Broadwick Group, known for its cutting-edge event spaces, transformed Drumsheds into one of London’s most iconic cultural spaces. To support high-profile usage and ensure seamless operations, the space required a robust, high-performance connectivity and security infrastructure. Simpli-Fi was selected to deploy a state-of-the-art networking and surveillance solution, overcoming significant challenges within a tight three-month project timeline.
Challenges
- Large scale building – Spanning 608,000 sq ft, the scale of Drumsheds posed logistical challenges in deploying an extensive network of CCTV cameras and wireless access points.
- Legacy Infrastructure Issues – The existing cabling systems were entirely unusable, requiring a full rip-out and replacement before new installations could begin.
- Tight Timeline – With the building needing to be open to the public within an agreed timeline, the work had to be completed within three months, demanding precise coordination and efficiency.
- Seamless Connectivity & Security – The space needed uninterrupted high-speed connectivity for thousands of users and real-time security monitoring to ensure safety for large-scale capacity.
Our Approach
- Cabling Overhaul: Our team removed all outdated infrastructure and installed an entirely new structured cabling system to support high-speed data transmission across the venue consisting of Excel system Cat 6 & Multimode/Singlemode fibre backbone.
- Comprehensive WiFi Deployment: Ekehau wireless surveys determined the positions for 200 enterprise-grade wireless access points to deliver seamless coverage and fast connectivity for the public, staff, and operational teams.
- Advanced AI Security and video management System: 120 high-definition CCTV cameras were installed across key areas to ensure 24/7 surveillance and enhance building security all integrated into Hik Central video management system.
- Comms Room Implementation: Eight comms rooms were built to house network infrastructure, ensuring redundancy, security, and future scalability.
- Efficient Project Management: With over 400 man-days of effort, we worked in phases to ensure each milestone was met on time, coordinating closely with the building’s operational teams.
