Denefield School struggled for years with an old legacy system providing poor and unreliable WiFi performance throughout the school, meaning they could not offer a BYOD solution for the students or develop a mobile strategy for teaching and learning.
The school approached Simpli-Fi to survey, design and install a new WiFi 6 solution for the school and 6th form college to provide a more reliable, fast and higher capacity network to support BYOD and high-density usage across all teaching areas.
An extensive site survey was carried out to provide RF coverage plans showing AP placements and signal levels throughout the school campus. Once the access point placements had been determined, a cabling survey was carried out, confirming all new Cat 6 cabling requirements and POE switch requirements for each comms cabinet.
In total, 10 edge comms cabinets required new POE+ switching utilising the spare OM4 fibre cores between the core and edge cabinets to provide a 10Gb backbone. Aruba HP switches were installed and configured throughout.
Simpli-Fi supplied and configured a Ruckus WiFi 6 solution using the Ruckus R550 access point (AP) with the latest Wi-Fi 6 (802.11 ax) technology, delivering the ideal combination of increased capacity, improved coverage and affordability in dense teaching environments.
