Simpli-Fi were procured to deliver a highly secure, converged network infrastructure at a top-secret UK government facility. Designed to support mission-critical building services — including access control, CCTV, and BMS — the project demanded end-to-end precision, compliance, and resilience.
Working from concept through to commissioning, our team delivered a fully integrated Cisco-based architecture featuring advanced security, automation, and policy control. The result is a scalable, future-ready infrastructure aligned with the UK government’s highest security standards.
The Challenge
The GPA required a converged ICT solution capable of:
- Full compliance with UK government-grade security standards
- Intent-based network segmentation to isolate sensitive services
- Seamless integration of third-party building systems (BMS, CCTV, access control)
- Centralised management via Cisco DNA Center and Identity Services Engine (ISE)
- Zero operational disruption during deployment
- Long-term supportability with full audit traceability
The solution needed to be not only technically robust, but also fully documented, tested, and risk-mitigated throughout every stage.
Our Solution
Simpli-Fi delivered a complete turnkey Cisco-based infrastructure combining secure switching, orchestration, and automation. Our approach was structured into four key phases:
1. Design & Planning
- Developed High-Level and Low-Level Designs (HLD/LLD)
- Produced detailed network diagrams and configuration workflows
- Created a project roadmap with timelines, risk strategies, and governance checkpoints
2. Prestage & Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
- Staged and configured all hardware in a controlled environment
- Conducted FAT to ensure component integrity and validate initial configurations
- Aligned with LLD to ensure plug-and-play readiness onsite
3. Onsite Deployment & Commissioning
- Installed a complete hardware stack, including:
- Cisco Catalyst 9500 Core switches
- Catalyst 9200 PoE+ Access switches
- Rugged Cisco IE3400 for intercom integration
- Cisco DNA Center for orchestration and assurance
- Cisco ISE for identity and access control
- Implemented SD-Access and TrustSec for micro-segmentation and RBAC
- Enabled real-time monitoring and centralised policy control
4. Testing & Handover
- Executed comprehensive end-to-end testing across all components
- Integrated third-party systems securely into the network
- Conducted witness testing with GPA stakeholders
- Delivered a full documentation and configuration package
