Event technology has come a long way in a short space of time.
Turn the clock back a decade, and the technology you would have been talking about to support an event would have been WiFi connections, PA systems and lighting for speakers and showcases, perhaps some screens for display and video.
When Europe’s event industry comes together in London at the beginning of November for the continent’s only dedicated show for event technology, they will be promoting a brave new world of digital possibility.
With exhibits including the latest developments in wearable beacon technology for events, not to mention experience enhancing VR headsets and AR smartphone apps, Event Tech Live will not only be a celebration of the event tech industry’s progress, but a marker for the possibilities still to come.
Event Tech Live
Now in its third year, the rapid growth of Event Tech Live, and its sister event the Event Technology Awards, is an indication of just how much the industry is growing. Indeed, by providing a focal point and opportunity to gather together, both events have helped to shape the sense of a unified industry from the disparate tech services available to conferences, concerts, exhibitions, festivals and so on.
With more exhibitors than the previous two years set to the showcase their products, and a record number of entries for the Awards, all the signs are of a buoyant, burgeoning industry, spurred on to more and more innovation and creativity by blossoming market demand.
This is certainly the view of Even Tech Awards co-founder Adam Parry, who told Event Industry News: “One look at the shortlist for this year’s Event Technology Awards 2016 proves that the use of event technology is growing exponentially. We’re really looking forward to the event itself now, it is always a great evening offering plenty of opportunities for networking and we expect to attract 500 attendees this time around”.
A look at the Awards list confirms Parry’s view. This year there are a total of 31 category demonstrating the huge breadth in how technology is put to use at events today, ranging from gamification to networking technology, event analytics to proximity marketing, automated registration to monetisation.
Education and Exploration
As well as showing off the breadth if the event technology industry, the twin events also provide an opportunity for event professionals to share and learn. Event Tech live this year features more than 40 workshops and demonstrations with 100 different speakers. There is a conscious focus on providing immersive educational experience to help visitors learn about the latest cutting edge possibilities to take away and market to events across Europe.
Event Tech Live takes place on Wednesday November 9 at London’s Old Truman Brewery. The Event Technology Awards are being held the same evening at the Supernova venue in the Victoria Embankment Gardens. We’re really looking forward to exhibiting on November 9th and hope to see you there!
