I’ve been married to Tryphena for twenty-two years. We live in Buckingham with our two children, Imogen, 16, and Noah, 18.
I enjoy sports, and I’m proud to be part of the local “Old Geezers Football” team. When I’m not sustaining football-related injuries you’ll more than likely find me watching football, I’m a big Everton fan!
I have been working in the technology industry for around twenty-five years. I took a break within that time to help run our family retail business. However, having worked in the family business for a few years I found myself being pulled back into the world of technology. Twenty-five years later, I’m still immersed in it, fascinated by the way it shapes our lives and the world we live in.
Wireless Communications has always been something that has interested me.
Growing up with the advent of the mobile phone and witnessing how it has developed from a technological point of view is remarkable. Smartphones have become an essential part of our daily lives, and consistent and reliable mobile coverage is now critical for all organisations, so it was an easy decision for me to move into this environment.
I was initially drawn to the people within the business. The older I become, the more I look at the intangibles of an organisation, and for me, this pretty much comes down to the people I’ll be working with.
I had previously worked with both Gary Exall, the Director, and Graham Williams, Head of Mobile Solutions, so I knew that they were very client-focused. This value also resonates across the whole group culture, which is a good match to my own approach to client management.
As a consultant, I’ve always believed in building relationships. It’s not just about simply selling a product or solution; I prefer to take a collaborative approach and work with our clients to understand their unique challenges and opportunities. In a rapidly evolving technological landscape, expecting clients to understand everything is impractical; I focus on explaining technology in simple terms, in tandem with understanding the client’s desired outcomes. While the technological detail is important, focusing on the bigger picture and how the solution will improve a business is a priority.
Because we’re a team that genuinely cares about the end result, we offer straightforward, honest advice where our customers are always the priority.
As for my life motto, it’s simple: “Treat others as you would like to be treated.” And “Everyone is different, so embrace it!”
